Dr. Alexis Smith grew up in Atlanta, GA and was earned her MD at Wake Forest University School of Medicine in 2008. She completed her general surgery residency at the University of Maryland and Shock Trauma Center in 2015 and did her two-year pediatric surgery fellowship at Brown University. She practiced as a Pediatric Surgeon at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and was the Trauma Medical Director for many years but now is getting her executive MBA at Emory University and practices as an adult trauma surgeon and pediatric surgeon across the state of Georgia. She is the chair of the Regional Trauma Advisory Committee, which serves as the managing hub for all trauma centers in the metro Atlanta area and has recently taken over as the Associate Trauma Medical Director for the state of Georgia.  She has broad experience in pediatric and adult general surgery with special interests in pediatric and adult trauma, injury prevention and advocacy, and surgical education.
