Gina Solomon is a seasoned trauma and critical care nursing professional with over 30 years of experience in Emergency and Intensive Care settings. She began her nursing career after earning a Diploma in Nursing from the Georgia Baptist School of Nursing in 1992. She went on to complete her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Georgia Baptist College of Nursing at Mercer University in 2017, followed by a Master of Healthcare Administration from Louisiana State University Shreveport in 2020.
Gina’s career in trauma care began at Atlanta Medical Center in the Surgical ICU, where she developed a deep passion for caring for critically injured patients. In 1997, she joined Gwinnett Medical Center as a critical care nurse and later assumed the role of Trauma Program Manager in 2008. Over her 12-year tenure, she successfully led the growth of a busy Level II Trauma Program, expanding the team from a single registrar and two trauma surgeons to a multidisciplinary staff that included six trauma surgeons, multiple registrars, a Performance Improvement Coordinator, and an Outreach Coordinator.
An active leader in trauma education and system development, Gina is an instructor for TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course), ATCN (Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses), and TECC (Tactical Emergency Casualty Care), as well as a course coordinator for ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support). She maintains professional affiliations with the Society of Trauma Nurses, the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA), the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN), and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
Gina has played a pivotal role in shaping trauma systems in the state of Georgia. She is a past Chair of the Georgia Committee for Trauma Excellence and has contributed to research and policy development through her involvement with the Georgia Research Institute for Trauma (GRIT) and the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma, Georgia Chapter.
In recognition of her outstanding leadership and contributions to trauma care, Gina was honored with the 2018 AJC Nursing Excellence Award and named a 2018 Georgia Hospital Association Hospital Hero.
Since December 2020, she has served as the Director of the Georgia Quality Improvement Program (GQIP), where she continues to lead initiatives that drive excellence in trauma care across the state.
